The
Winter 2007/2008 Main Street Newsletter is now available! Read about
the progress the URA and Main Street Committee are making in their
efforts to revitalize downtown.
Branding Development Committee Announces Chairman Position at First Meeting
Mayor Tim Kaumo commissioned nine people to participate
in the Branding Development Committee as recommended by Destination
Development, Inc. This
committee met for the first time on Monday, January 14, 2008 to elect
Rick DeBernardi from Wild West Motorsports as Chairman and Dave Hanks
and Lisa Mueller as Co-Chair.
The committee agreed to schedule regular meetings on
the second and forth Monday of each month.
“We are excited to get started,” said the newly elected Chairman.
Meetings will be held 5:30 p.m. in the conference room at City
Hall.
 People in Rock Springs don't think of themselves
as "urban" considering the vast unpopulated desert and mountains that surround
the town. However, the city does experience the issues and opportunities
of other urban areas. Our town's newest commission is busy dealing with
one of those issues, urban renewal, and working to bring new life to the
downtown areas that have been left behind by the rapid development going
on at the town's west end.
Mission:
Through community volunteers, private business,
and government partnership the
Rock Springs Main Street Program
Urban Renewal Agency will organize, implement and facilitate the
promotion, design and economic growth of
Historic Downtown Rock Springs and the Renewal District.
