Building Inspectors are responsible for assuring
that all new construction within the community is consistent with Local,
State and Federal law and actions taken by the City Council and the Planning
and Zoning Commission.
Building Permits, plan reviews
and field inspections are performed to ensure the success
of your project, the safety of your property and help avoid problems
that could cost you time and money.
The Department provides a building permit service,
plan examiner service, product and code compliance, field inspection and
code interpretation and provides effective code enforcement.

Building Permit - Any person, firm or corporation desiring to
construction, enlarge, alter, repair , move, convert, or demolish any
building or structure in this jurisdiction must have a building permit.
Many Lending institutions require proof of permits and inspections before
loans are granted and proof of final inspection prior to loan closing.
Many insurance companies now require mandatory inspections on fireplaces,
remodeling, additions and basement finishes. Additionally, inspections
are required by some as a pre-requisite on the sale of used homes.
