The Rock Springs Police Civil Service Commission will be conducting testing for police officers as listed below. A complete application is required to be allowed to test. Candidates must pass the written P.O.S.T. test, physical fitness performance test, and oral board interview, polygraph and intensive background investigation. Lateral transfers for current law enforcement officers are accepted with 3 years of experience and current advanced post certification. Lateral transfer applicants must still pass all testing requirements. Applications can be picked at City Hall or downloaded online at the City’s website www.rswy.net

About the position:

  • Performs a variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; to conduct and participate in general investigations of crimes, accidents, and cases; to control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations; to serve as Patrol Officer, Detective, Field Training Officer, Tactical Team Member, K-9 Officer, Traffic Officer, or School Resource Officer; and to perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of the Department.
  • Entry level wage is $25.56 - $26.20 per hour with excellent benefits.
  • Health Plan inclusive of medical, dental and vision (monthly premiums start at $134.29);
  • Vacation (12 days), sick leave (12 days) and holiday pay (13 days);
  • Wyoming Retirement Pension Plan 100% paid by the City along with 457B options
  • Life insurance - $25,000 paid by City with additional buy-up options
  • Discounted passes to the White Mountain Golf Course and 2 indoor recreation facilities
  • Wyoming has no state income tax
  • To qualify for employment, candidates must have reached their 21st birthday by the date of hire.

March Testing Dates and Requirements

February 26, 2018 – Application due at City Hall Human Resources by 4:00 p.m.

March 12, 2018 – Physical fitness test at 8:30 a.m. at the Family Rec Center, 3900 Sweetwater Drive.  Pass/Fail. Comfortable clothing such as shorts, sweats, t-shirt, tennis shoes or sport shoes are recommended for the physical test. 

March 12, 2018 – Written test at 1:00 p.m. at Rock Springs Fire Station #3, 145 Industrial Drive.  Pass/Fail. 

March 13, 2018 – Oral board interviews at Rock Springs City Hall, 212 D Street.  Come dressed for a professional interview. Pass/Fail.

March 13-14, 2018 – Polygraph - eat something prior to the polygraph and limit your caffeine intake.  Cell phones are not allowed during the polygraph, so please leave them in your car.  Comfortable clothing is suggested.


August Testing Dates and Requirements

July 23, 2018 – Application due at City Hall Human Resources by 4:00 p.m.

August 6, 2018 – Physical fitness test at 8:30 a.m. at the Family Rec Center, 3900 Sweetwater Drive.  Pass/Fail. Comfortable clothing such as shorts, sweats, t-shirt, tennis shoes or sport shoes are recommended for the physical test. 

August 6, 2018 – Written test at 1:00 p.m. at Rock Springs Fire Station #3, 145 Industrial Drive.  Pass/Fail. 

August 7, 2018 – Oral board interviews at Rock Springs City Hall, 212 D Street.  Come dressed for a professional interview.  Pass/Fail.
