Fitness Class Descriptions

Family Recreation Center Fitness Class Descriptions:
Zumba®Fitness - A unique program that fuses Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves for a fantastic new class.  The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat for a complete work-out and lots of fun!
Yoga/Fusion - This class combines Yoga with core conditioning.  Included are Yoga flows, postures, stretching, basic muscle toning and core conditioning exercises.  This is a wonderful and effective mind and body workout.  Total body toning, flexibility and relaxation.  Great class!

Yoga - A wide variety of movements incorporating Yoga flows, stretching, poses, breathing and relaxation.  Total mind and body toning.  Everyone will enjoy this class.

Spin City Cycling - Using specialty Indoor Cycles.  Often perceived as too hard for the beginner, the opposite is true.  Although it can be a very aggressive workout, each participant works out at their own pace and level.  This class is a excellent low impact cardiovascular workout that you have to try to believe!

RIP -  RIP is a 60-minute barbell program for men and women of all fitness levels. Matching movement to music and using traditional strength training allows participants to work at their own level. This is a simple, fun and Very effective way to strength train.

F.I.T. -  Fun Interval Training.  Fun beginner friendly class that incorporates intervals of muscle toning exercises and weight lifting.

INSANITY - Forget everything you think you know about high-intensity workouts. Because INSANITY turns old-school interval training on its head.  You work flat out in 3 to 5-minute blocks, and take breaks only long enough to gulp some air and get right back to work. It's called Max Interval Training, because it keeps your body working at maximum capacity through your entire workout. You keep pushing your limits – so your body has to adapt.

Yoga for Athletes - More and more people are discovering the myriad ways that yoga can be used to improve athletic performance and their daily lives—from increasing mental concentration and improving flexibility and balance to preventing common injuries and honing skills in a particular sport.  This class emphasizes strength, flexibility and stamina by combining breath work with a series of poses often done is a flowing style. Great class for Everyone!
