WHAT IS THE ROCK SPRINGS FIRE DEPARTMENT CO ALARM PROGRAM?
The CO Alarm Program was developed to help protect citizens of Rock Springs from the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
HOW CAN THE CO ALARM PROGRAM HELP MY FAMILY?
The CO Alarm Program was designed to help Rock Springs citizens in several ways:
· Provide information on the dangers of CO poisoning.
· Provide proper information on the installation and use of CO alarms.
· Respond and investigate CO alarms within Rock Springs.
This service is provided when citizens promptly call 911 on CO alarm activation.
· Aid citizens in the proper installation of CO alarms.
HOW CAN I OBTAIN A CO ALARM FOR MY HOME?
CO alarms may be purchased at most department and hardware stores. There are several types including: plug-in, battery powered, and those with a digital readout. The Rock Springs Fire Department will help citizens who purchase a CO alarm ensure the alarm is properly installed and in working condition.
With the financial support of Tetra Tech and the aid of the Home Depot the Rock Springs Fire Department was able to obtain a limited number of CO alarms. The Rock Springs Fire Department will provide and install a CO alarm in homes within Rock Springs using the following criteria:
· Emphasis will be placed on homes with gas appliances.
· Priority will be given to the elderly, small children, or those with special needs.
· The Rock Springs Fire Department has a limited supply of CO alarms.
Those who can purchase one will be asked to do so.
