Rock Springs is located in southwest Wyoming at the strategic crossroads of Interstate 80 (the East-West corridor of historic transcontinental trails, railroads, pipelines and telecommunications) and US Highway 191 (the North-South corridor running from Mexico all the way to Canada and connecting Arches National Park, Moab, and Dinosaur National Monument to the Teton and Yellowstone National Parks).

Historically we are the "Gateway to the West" and our magnificent high desert scenery, as well as our fishing and hunting, are the equal of any in America. These and our unique off-road and water recreation resources, and impressive wildlife, are making Rock Springs a recreation destination unique among the many in Wyoming. Historic Flaming Gorge, the unusual Killpecker Sand Dunes and the gorgeous Red Desert are all right in our back yard.

A variety of recreation facilities are available in the City, including the Paul J. Wataha Recreation Complex which hosts an 27 hole championship golf course complete with a driving range, pro shop, and restaurant; four tennis courts, a ball complex with four fields, fishing pond; pavilion and picnic grounds. The city also boasts two multi-purpose indoor recreation facilities, offering everything from aerobics to ice skating, rock climbing to yoga classes.

Western Wyoming Community College, an unusual architectural structure sitting on the plateau overlooking the town, is an accredited two-year college offering A.A. and A.A.S. Degrees and in cooperation with area universities,  Bachelor and Masters Degrees. The extensive adult education programs, teleconferencing capabilities, a stunning Natural History Museum and Dinosaur Exhibit also enrich the community.

Rock Springs' characteristics and its quality of life are phenomenal but what truly defines our city is its people.  Ultimately, it is people who make a community, and we celebrate the immigrants from all over the globe who have blended to make wonderful neighborhoods in this great small city.

DemsharsNo matter where residents hail from, Rock Springs quickly becomes home: comfortable but challenging, quiet but stimulating. We invite you to explore our web site. We love it here and think you would, too.

Please come for a visit. You might just stay for a lifetime.
