The Police Civil Service Commission will conduct testing in October 2020.
Applications can be printed from this page and completed or a packet may be obtained at City Hall. Lateral transfers for current law enforcement officers are accepted with 3 years of experience and current advanced post-certification. Lateral transfer applicants must still pass all testing requirements as outlined below. Candidates must pass the written P.O.S.T. test, physical fitness performance test, and oral board interview, polygraph and intensive background investigation.
Upcoming Testing Dates:
September 22, 2020 – Application due at City Hall Human Resources by 4:00 p.m.
October 5, 2020 – Physical fitness test at 8:30 a.m. at the Family Rec Center, 3900 Sweetwater Drive. Pass/Fail. Comfortable clothing such as shorts, sweats, t-shirt, tennis shoes or sport shoes are recommended for the physical test.
October 5, 2020 – Written test at 1:00 p.m. at Rock Springs Fire Station #3, 145 Industrial Drive. Pass/Fail.
October 6, 2020 – Oral board interviews at Rock Springs City Hall, 212 D Street. Come dressed for a professional interview. Pass/Fail.
November 24, 2020 – Application due at City Hall Human Resources by 4:00 p.m.

About the position:
The RSPD is a progressive department consisting of 46 sworn officers. Police officers perform a variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; conduct and participate in general investigations of crimes, accidents, and cases; control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations. Officers start out in Patrol and can work towards special assignments as Detectives, Field Training Officers, Tactical Team Member, K-9 Officers, Traffic Officers, or School Resource Officers.

A passing score requires an average of the 40th percentile with no individual area scoring below the 25th
We suggest that each applicant be aware of their own physical abilities, and practice each of the required categories in advance of attempting the department physical testing. Keep in mind that Rock Springs is 6388 feet above sea level (More than a thousand feet higher than the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado).
