What are the Museum's Hours?
We are open Monday-Saturday 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. We are closed on most major holidays.
Is there a charge to visit the museum?
No. Admission is free of charge.
I have something that I would like to give to the museum, how do I do that?
We accept most objects for donation, so please contact us at 362-3138 for more information. If you are unable to bring the item to the museum, we will come and pick it up within the Rock Springs/Green River area. Some things that we generally do not accept are (though there are exceptions to every rule): typewriters, adding machines, ringer-washers, and sewing machines. This is due to the fact that we already have several in our collection and we have limited storage space.
What happens after I donate an item to the museum? When will it go on display?
If the item is accepted, we will have you fill out a donation form, and deed of gift. The object will then be cataloged into our collection and stored in accordance with national museum policies. You can be sure that your donation will be taken care of properly. Items may or may not be put on display immediately. Often they are put into storage until the artifact applies to an exhibit. For everything that is seen on display, there are dozens of artifacts waiting in storage for their turn in a display case.
Can I rent the museum for an event?
We do not rent the museum for private parties(weddings, receptions, etc.) We are able to provide reception space in the Fire Station area for non-profit groups only.
