Parks & Recreation

On behalf of all of the staff in our Parks and Recreation Department, I welcome you to participate in our fall and winter recreational opportunities! As a department, our goal is to provide the community with quality recreational opportunities while making you feel welcome each and every time you visit our programs & facilities. We invite you to come out and participate in a wide range of activities provided by the four divisions that make up RS Parks and Rec.

If you need my personal assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. While the weather still allows, please enjoy one of our 24 city parks. Keep in mind that Bitter Creek Bark Park, our off-leash city dog park, will remain open year-round for your dog’s enjoyment. The park is conveniently located behind the Plaza Mall ~ just off the belt route.

Once the snow flies, visit the Family Rec Center’s (FRC) leisure pool as it remains a popular place for kids of all ages to expend their energy when it’s cold outside. Or come ice skate at the only ice rink in southwest Wyoming!

If group fitness appeals to you, we continue to offer numerous organized fitness classes at both the FRC and the Civic Center each and every week. And remember ~ both the FRC and the Civic Center provide swimming pools, hot tubs and saunas for your relaxation and enjoyment.

The Civic Center continues to provide a cozy atmosphere and the best climbing wall around to challenge everyone from children to experienced climbers In addition, you can golf all year long in Rock Springs! Visit White Mountain Golf Course until October, and, after that, you can head over to the golf simulator located at the Civic Center!

To keep up with all recreational opportunities in Rock Springs, a great place to track “all that’s happening in RS Parks and Rec” is to visit our city web site at or friend us on Facebook. As a department, we strive to diversify your recreational options and welcome ideas on how we can improve the myriad of opportunities in our community.

We also kindly ask you to help us watch over the facilities we manage. Please come out and enjoy as it’s our wish to give the community the very best! Again, let us know if we can be of any assistance to you in your recreational needs. Rock Springs is a great place to work and play….so come out and play! Best wishes for a healthy season!
