DARE/SRO

DARE/SRO

The Rock Springs Police Department has two School Resource Officers (SROs) who serve as liaisons between the police department and the schools in our city. They work full-time in our schools to deal with enforcing city ordinances, security issues during school activities or functions, juvenile problems, and any criminal activity within the school.  Currently, SROs are assigned as follows:

The SROs perform their daily activities under the Support Services Division of the Rock Springs Police Department.

Rock Springs Police Department is responsible for conducting the DARE program within Sweetwater County School District #1 schools. Officer Chris Sprouse is our department DARE officer.

The Rock Springs Police Department hosts a Junior Police Academy in the summer months.

In this program, junior officers will be introduced to the many aspects of their local police department.

They will also experience various law enforcement activities and be familiarized with many of the tools that police use on a daily basis.
